A Brief History of Warrenton Oil Company

A Journey Through Time

In 1972, R.G. and Betty Baker began an extraordinary journey founding First Capitol Oil in St. Charles, MO. Initially focusing on selling fuel oil and lubricants, their vision expanded. With dedication, they entered direct gasoline marketing, acquiring their first service station.

A Union of Ambition

Fast forward to 1984, a pivotal year. R.G. and son Wayne seized the opportunity to buy Warrenton Oil Company, shaping our business. First Capitol Oil thrived as a Warrenton Oil Company division, opening the road to success.

Westward Expansion

By 1993, WOCO aimed west, acquiring Columbia operations of Davis Oil. The expansion journey began, ready for new challenges. Acquisitions and fresh startups became the norm, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to growth and service.

FastLane emerged as a signature expression of that momentum. More than a convenience brand, FastLane became a reflection of the company’s drive to innovate—offering customers modern amenities, fresh food options, and the kind of friendly service that made even a quick stop feel like a local connection.

A Family Legacy

All eight of R.G. and Betty’s children actively contributed to the company’s progress, each bringing their own strengths to move WOCO forward. Their shared dedication and work ethic fueled the evolution from a local operation into a diversified, fast-growing enterprise. What began as a family-run oil company has expanded into a wide-ranging portfolio—FastLane convenience stores, car and truck washes, restaurants, hotels, and a growing collection of new ventures. Together, these businesses reflect the same spirit of service, innovation, and family commitment that shaped WOCO’s earliest days.
